RUTHERFORD, TN — The 43rd Annual Davy Crockett Days will be held October 3-9, 2010 and honors the memory of Colonel Davy Crockett, who lived here from 1822 until the fall of 1835. This was his home when he hunted and killed 105 bears, and served three terms in Congress. There will be historical displays in town all week with special sales at local businesses. The Davy Crockett Cabin Museum will be open all week at no charge, but donations are always appreciated. Plans for the week are to begin with a flag raising opening ceremony on Sunday at the Davy Crockett Cabin Museum at 2pm, followed by a Historic Home & Church Tour at 3pm beginning at the historic Rutherford Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

On Monday the 2nd Annual "Davy Crockett Days Idol" talent contest will be at the Rutherford School Gym at 6:30pm. To register, contact Kasey Harris at (731) 225-6324. Tuesday night will be the White Beans/Ham Supper and BINGO at the Rescue Squad Building. The Community Worship Service will be held at the Cabin on Wednesday evening at 7pm. Thursday evening we will enjoy Rutherford Night Out, with free party jumpers and games for the kids and free hotdogs for everyone in front of the fire department from 6-9 pm. Downtown Open House will be held Friday evening from 5-7pm with food, music and door prizes, along with the annual Fire Department Auction at 7pm.

Festival PhotoSaturday at the Cabin will bring pioneer trades, crafts and music with concessions at the cabin. The Pet Show will be held Saturday morning at 10am on the school tennis court and vendors will set up downtown, selling lots of food, crafts and more.

The annual Car & Truck Show will be held on the school parking lot, in conjunction with Russom Motors. Parade line-up will be on the old Kellwood parking lot next to the cabin, with the Grand Parade beginning at 2pm. Horses and wagons line up on the lot next to the railroad tracks and guests may enjoy BBQ, hamburgers, and much more as they watch the Grand Parade and the Bluegrass Concert at the Davy Crockett Cabin following the parade.
