Got to be NC Festival returns to NC State Fairgrounds in May 2010

RALEIGH, NC — The 2010 Got to be NC Festival will explode onto the N.C. State Fairgrounds in Raleigh on May 21, 22 and 23. The third annual event will feature a full carnival, an expanded food and wine expo, antique tractors and farm equipment, live music stages, a fiber fair, camel rides, a petting zoo, pig races, draft horse pulls, antique tractor pulls, lawnmower racing and more.

“Last year's festival was a great success and we'll look to build on that success this year,” says N.C. Ag Commissioner Steve Troxler. “We've brought back our most popular attractions and added a few new ones to make this an even better festival for the entire family.”

This year's food and wine expo will fill the entire Exposition Building with even more North Carolina companies sampling and selling their products. The expo will also feature a “farm fresh” section that will contain vendors similar to those you would find at a farmers market.

Other enhancements to this year's festival include the fiber fair, which will occupy the entire Holshouser Building all three days. In addition, classic cars and Harley-Davidson motorcycles will fill up the areas along the paved walkway between the new Midway and the Exposition Building. The cars will be in place on Friday while the motorcycles will be staged on Saturday.

The Heritage Village area will continue to host a wide range of “classic” agricultural items like demonstrations of working antique farm equipment, story-telling, soap-making, churned ice cream, milking dairy goats, mules and more.

“Each year we continue to look for new ways to improve and enhance this festival,” said festival manager Jim Knight. “We want to provide a fun, family friendly environment where folks can come and spend the entire day with us; and best of all, we are still able to offer both free admission and parking to the public.”

Information on the festival is available on-line at www.ncagfest.com. Registration forms for antique farm equipment can be found at the site along with applications for commercial exhibit space. Links to social media sites including facebook and twitter are online as well. Updated schedules and new information will be posted on the web site weekly.
